After losing her wife of 25 years while on vacation, bereaved Brin returns home to find a mermaid in her pool. She first mistakes this as a sign from her dead wife but soon realizes that the creature in her pool is a non-binary teenager who is obsessed with mermaiding and has been seeking into her pool to practice.  After the initial shock wears off, these two spark up a quirky, hilarious and heartfelt friendship and help each other through some of lives most difficult moments.​​
